Jack’s childhood was spent at 10 Drynan Street Paddington Brisbane.
Jack started school at the Sacred HeartConvent School at Rosalie in approximately 1949. On completion primary school he moved to the Marist Brothers Collage Rosalie across the
road. Jack left school at the age of 14 like many others in those days. Jack after leaving school commenced work in a carpet shop as an all-rounder and remained in the carpet industry all his working life. Jacks early employment, was with Cunningham Carpets at South Brisbane. Jack owned a carpet business B and J Carpets in Chermside area, eventually sold this and purchased another carpet business Andersen’s Carpet in Aspley Homemaker Centre and working the shop up to No 5 out of 41 stores then selling the business upon retirement.

Jack like many of the Pad boys, spent many a Sunday afternoon sitting on the grass, during football season, cheering on Western Suburbs an A grade team in the Brisbane competition. After the teenage years it was the Broncos at Lang Park, later renamed to Suncorp. Jack loved to follow sports, and keenly followed the NRL, tennis and loved the races on a Saturday. His weekend consisted mainly of Saturday afternoon racing and football on Sunday in his teen years. Later like most, he enjoyed his sport as a TV couch potatoes, and watched many a competition from overseas or interstate.

Jack was a very, very, keen Elvis fan and when he travelled to the USA he made sure Memphis was part of the trip. Jack had a lot of memorabilia about Elvis and numerous photos and recordings. He travelled extensively overseas upon retirement until his health declined, sadly passing away from bowel and lung cancer.

Jack you will be greatly missed by many.
