DID YOU KNOW Old Boys that the legendary Headmaster of Rosalie and Ashgrove, Brother Cyprian Dowd, actually founded Wests Rugby Union Club in 1951? He remained the Patron for many years. Previously known as Old Maristonians, to secure the Club’s future, Brother Cyprian introduced Rugby Union to Ashgrove in 1952 (plus he just hated Rugby League). And many other schools, with a bit of persuasion, simply followed what the Great Man did.
Wests have just picked up their first premiership since 2006.
A bit messy on Sunday night over there at the Kennel on Sylvan Road- but Cyp, who thought the Rosalie Old Boys drank a bit too much 70 years ago, just might have turned a blind eye.
